The Wii has a very broad range of games with which to please just about anybody- except for two areas. One of them is simulation racing, and the other is fighting games. Smash Bros. Brawl may hold your interest for a while if you can get people to play with you, but its lack of effective online really means you will have to look somewhere else for long term enjoyment. There have also been a few other good but not great fighting games in the Dragon Ball Z and Naruto games. With the arrival of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom all of this has changed. While everyone loved Marvel vs. Capcom for its fast arcadey fisticuffs, it wasn’t the most balanced game around. You could easily get lost in the amount of power-ups spraying the screen at any given moment. This entry balances things out a bit more so that both experienced players and newcomers alike can find enjoyment. It is like a Nintendo game in its ability to be easy to pick up but difficult to master, keeping just about anybody who picks up the controller satisfied. While the Tatsunoko characters might not be as recognizable as Marvel’s, this is easily the better game.
If you have played Marvel vs. Capcom you will basically know what to expect. Fast, intense action. The main difference here is a better balancing among characters. No one character shows up too much online, which is evidence that nothing is broken. Despite some moves being challenging to dodge, there is always a solution to any problem. Speaking of online, it was done very well. I have hardly experienced a hiccup while playing and often find a match within 20 seconds. What may seem like a simple fighter at first glance (it only uses four buttons) is actually steeped in strategy. Determining when to use your specials, or how to tag in can often make or break you. Another layer of strategy can be found in the baroque technique, which allows you to break a combo and start a new one mid strike. Also, I anybody has you stuck in what seems like an endless combo use the mega crash, an attack that will send your opponent flying. The only thing I didn’t like was having to beat the arcade mode a million times to unlock all of the characters. I would have preferred they spread them out over the various modes present, like time attack and survival. The secret unlockable minigame is a nice addition when you need some downtime from all of the fighting.
A beautiful game that really stands out amongst the Wii library. The animation is great and some of the specials are amazing to see. A few of the levels change the lighting up, and many of them feature moving backgrounds making the varied locales more interesting to fight in. I was kind of disappointed in the comic panel endings for each character, but its hardly that much of a complaint. It just seemed slightly low budget compared to the rest of the excellent presentation. As far as sound is concerned, the game features serviceable upbeat tracks and Japanese voice acting. Some of the children’s voices are slightly annoying to my ears at times, but not that bad. I really liked the final boss tracks due to them being pulled from one of my favorite games that almost no one played outside of the hardcore internet community. I remember when this game was first announced for arcades people were talking about it being ported to Xbox 360 and PS3 because it looked so good. It won’t disappoint in this department.
This is one beautiful game-but the real joy in playing it comes from its gameplay which easily makes it the best fighter on the system. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is pure fun that anyone can get into, but you will want to stick around to master it. I highly recommend a purchase.
I have always loved flash games. If you’re ever suffering from boredom, they provide simple entertainment that don’t require the time and thought of more complex game. And best of all, flash games are usually free. Since I have endured a lifetime of boredom, I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the subject. So here it is, I give you my top 15 flash games of all time. Just a little side note: I tried to include games that did something original with the medium. A lot of flash games seem to just rip off of other flash games because the program is very limited in what it can create. That’s why it’s so great when someone comes up with something new.
15. Kitten Cannon – The objective of this game is simple, launch a kitten as far as you can. There is very little strategy to this game (if there is any) but once you start playing it you can’t stop.
14. Line Rider – I was never a big fan of this game but it undoubtedly did something new. There’s really no point to this game, just create a track for your player to ride on and let him go. The game spawned a lot of different versions where players could ride in different vehicles and create different types of tracks but I prefer the original.
13. The Helicopter Game – A simple, yet addictive game where players fly through a cave avoiding blocks. Click with your mouse to go up and let go to go down.
12. Curve Ball – Kind of like 3D pong. Another game that’s simple but addictive.
11. Winter Bells – Orisinal has created some great games. They have also created a lot of shitty games. This happens to be one of the better ones and my favorite. Guide the rabbit from bell to bell as you try to reach the top. And make sure to turn off the annoying music. It will drive you crazy.
10. The Last Stand – One of the best zombie defense games in my opinion. What separates this game from the rest is you have to manage time looking for survivors, weapons, and repairing your barricades. I would also recommend The Last Stand 2 which has different locations you can search through and an ultimate final location you have to arrive at.
9. Cursor*10 – One of the most innovative ideas I’ve seen from a flash game. You work with yourself to go through a series of floors to eventually lead to the top of the tower. A really great game.
8. Mmeoww! – A very underrated and highly addictive game in my opinion with a very simple objective: lower falling kittens to safety with your paddle. When your score goes up, more kittens go down.
7. Damn Birds – A really great defense game with a great concept: Shoot the birds before they take a dump on you. This game is incredibly fun and has some awesome art and animation that goes a long way.
6. Motherload – XGen Studios is known for making innovative games and while Motherload isn’t their most original creation, it is my favorite and I think it is their most underrated game. Mine for resources and sell them at the store to buy upgrades to go farther down into the soil.
5. IndestructoTank – A game that reverses the objective in most games. Instead of hitting the enemy, let the enemy hit you. Once you are launched in the air crash into the enemy planes to get combos and advance to the next level.
4. Bloons – Pop all the balloons to advance to the next level. Sound boring? Just try to stop playing.
3. Madness Interactive – One of the best physics engines I have ever seen in a flash game. With an array of weapons, you’ll be playing this one for a while. I would also recommend getting the downloadable version of this game on your computer, as it can get annoying when you lose control when your cursor goes off screen. You can download it here.
2. Portal: The Flash Version – A 2D version of the game developed by Valve. While much less complex than the 3D version, this one will still have you thinking.
1. N – Simple title, incredible game. The whole game revolves around wall jumping to get to the exit and advance to the next level. But a short description like this does not give it justice. Just play the game and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

The story behind Universal creating this game:
This is the first Spyro game that was created for the Playstation 2 console. Insomniac Games began the work for this game before the Playstation 2 came out and they were formatting it for the Playstation 1. When the Playstation 2 was announced, Insomniac decided that they wanted to format their new Spyro game for the playstation 2, but they needed to learn the formatting. So they let their partner in the previous 3 games, Universal Interactive take over the rest of making the Spyro game while Insomniac learned the format. Now Universal make Spyro for this reason.
The Game guide:
This guide will cover everything in every level of Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly. Included in this guide is everything you need to know about gems, dragonflies, how many dragonflies you need to enter each level, enemies, and the mini games and puzzles.
Just after the Year of the Dragon festival, The new baby dragons are receiving their dragonflies. All dragons need dragonflies, They are the source of a dragon’s immortality if they are fed enough. It’s a big party.
Suddenly, Ripto appears (this guy doesn’t give up, does he?). He uses his magic to make all of the new dragonflies disappear, but they get scattered around the worlds.
Spyro must gather all of the dragonflies and defeat Ripto and his minions, the riptocs.
Breath abilities and lives:
Bianca (a friend of Spyro’s) has made it possible for Spyro to breathe more than fire whenever he wants to, not just when he gets a power-up. She has given him a new ability as well. Her magic isn’t strong enough to just let Spyro have these abilities, so he has to find stones that are hidden throughout the worlds and put them in a special statue in Dragon Realms to receive the ability. These abilities are: bubble breath, electric breath, Ice breath, and wing shield. Bubble breath is needed to catch dragonflies, electric breath is needed to open one gate and start machines, ice breath is needed to open one gate and freeze some enemies( and friends as well) to do certain tasks. Wing shield is needed for some enemies who can’t be killed by any of your attacks. These enemies can be killed by their own weapons which will bounce off of your wings and go back to the enemies. Sometimes you may need to move back and forth to get the weapons to bounce in the right direction.
You start the game with 4 lives. To get more lives, you can either kill 8 of the small animals running around, or you can find a glass jar that contains a butterfly. Unlike previous games, there are many jars and they all are back when you return to a world.
Every world has 10 dragonflies and there are 9 worlds. Each world has a different number of gems, but they all total 7,000.
All world except Dragon Realms have 2 portals with puzzles, speedways,a vehicle, or slides in them.
This is where you begin the game. It is also the home world of the game. Unlike the other games, Enter the Dragonfly only has one world in which you can use to go to the other worlds. There are 800 gems to be found here and no enemies. There are two gates here: one has to be opened with electric breath, one has to be opened with ice breath. The 10 dragonflies here are some of the easiest to get. You get one dragonfly for each of the following tasks: front of the castle, Hunter’s lesson, buzzing heat, buzzing cold, flame challenge, ice challenge, lightning challenge, down by the bay, balloon’s shadow, and beyond the gate.
To enter the Dojo, you must have captured one dragonfly.
There are 700 gems here and the enemies are small riptocs that can be killed in any way, and large riptocs that can only be flamed. The dragonflies can be found: release the elder dragons, on the loose, in the mists, in the corridor, baby dragons(give kites back), on the lonely island, climbing steps, dojo time trial, dojo race, and the tank game. The portals are a speedway and a tank game.
Crop Circle Country:
To enter the Country, you must have captured 6 dragonflies.
There are 800 gems here and the enemies are space cows with lasers and large rynocs in space suits with lasers. Here, electricity is your friend. You should keep it activated at all times. Dragonfly locations are: in the pasture, on the loose, up the broken bridge, cow herding, UFOs attack, free the cows, super-flame challenge, cow abduction 1, cow abduction 2, and platform panic. The portals take you to a platform puzzle and the area where you can control a spaceship.
To enter the Island, you must have captured 15 dragonflies.
There are 900 gems here and the enemies are large riptocs, tikis, and scooba riptocs. Scooba riptocs can only be killed by charging, as breath abilities don’t work under water, the other enemies can be flamed. The 10 dragonflies are: behind the statue, mountaintop, chill the pig, in the hoosegow(prison), landslide, tiki fire breath, on the loose, mantaray, drum song 1, and drum song 2. The two portals are a memory puzzle where you play a song, and the area where you get to drive the mantaray.
To enter Cloud 9, you must have captured 25 dragonflies.
There are 800 gems here and enemies are thunderclouds, large rynocs, and rynocs that shoot arrows. Fire breath is the best here. Dragonflie locations are: at the clock tower, around the way, thundercloud attack, hourglass challenge, lip of the clock, on the loose, pillar to pillar, rainbow time trial, rainbow race, and Spitfire-sky base. The portals are a speedway and an area where you fly the spitfire plane.
To enter the Monastary, you must have captured 35 dragonflies.
there are 900 gems here and the enemies are elephants, large riptocs with clubs, and large riptocs with snowballs. the elephants and the riptocs with the clubs can be flamed, butthose with snowballs have to be frozen and then charged. the 10 dragonflies here are: on the loose, save the yetis, on the ledge, locked in a chest, huntin’ wiptocs, on the ice, behind the doors, ice slide 1, ice slide 2, and spitfire-factories. The slide is the only one where there are 2 different ways to go down. you get one dragnfly for each way down. There is also another area were you can fly the spitfire plane.
To enter the Marsh, you must have caotured 45 dragonflies.
There are 800 gems in this level and the enemies are bees, beehives, riptocs with banjos, and riptocs with lasers. All can be flamed. The 10 dragonflies here are: treetops, locked in a chest, get the big beehives, honey stills, thief chase, around the bend, on the loose, waling the planks, honeyslide, and tank course.
there is a slide and a tank course here, but I can’t get the tank course no matter how hard I try!
To enter the Den, you must have captured 55 dragonflies.
There are 700 gems here There is one type of enemy, the Wizard, which you have to use your wing shied to defeat, and after you kill one, it doesn’t come back. The other enemies are gems and baskets, which all run away from you. The 10 dragonflies here are: defeat the wizard riptocs, locked in a chest, ice challenge, on the loose, over the edge, chopping block, the lantern perch, oasis time trial, oasis race, and platform pandemonium. There is a speedway and a platform course here.
To enter the Jungle, you must have captured 65 dragonflies.
There are 600 gems here and three types of enemies, one type that you can electrocute, one type that you have to freeze, and one type on the lava that you have to freeze. The type that you have to freeze and is not on the lava won’t come back after you kill them. The type that you have to electrocute can also be frozen, so I recommend keeping your ice breath activated. Dragonfly locations are: recover lost pieces, lightning challenge, locked in a chest, thief chase, attack of the caveman, inside the temple, on the lava, lava slide, tower, and one other that I can’t figure out what it is! There is a slide and a puzzle where you have to get to the top of the tower and avoid all the enemies.
My Review of Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly:
This game was the worst game I have ever played! Insomniac should have kept the game and waited to release it instead of giving it to Universal. The layout of the game is completly different from the other Spyro games. I can’t believe they have a level where you actually help those annoying thieves!
The worst part about this game was the glitches. It’s like they never even tested this game!
Glitches that I have come across include: white lines across the screen, complete freezing, and half of Jurrassic jungle disappearing.
Also the load times are incredibly slow.
I would recommend not buying this game. Bypass it and go straight to “A Hero’s Tale”.
